Join us for the litterati cleanup in the Westerpark.
The cleanup will take place from 12:00 till 14:00 pm
If you are unfamiliar with the app that is no problem, we will explain everything you need to know to become an expert in gathering data while going for a trashdate in the park.
We will split the group in those familiar with Litterati and already use it and those who are new to the app.
After each round of trashdating, you can register the total impact on trashless.earth because, the group with the biggest impact wins a price!
When Jeff Kirchner got difficult questions from his little daughters about ‘what is that doing there?’, he decided to register the trash he found on the street on hist instagram account. That was the start of Litterati where eventually his Instagram platform was transformed to a real app. An app that helped the municipality of San Fransisco to gather solid proof data on cigarette butts and even other brands that were polluting the streets. It enabled them to fine the tobacco companies and help to keep the streets clean.
With the Litterati app you don’t just pick up trash. You also register it by object material and brand. Other organisations can use the data to come up with solutions or change of laws to make sure certain types of trash will not be littering our streets anymore.
